Advice for healthy teeth
You should regard cleaning your teeth as an investment for the future. Cleaning your teeth daily will help prevent toothache and pain, will save you money in the long term and will improve your appearance and overall health. At Baker and Rigby we aim to prevent dental disease rather than have to treat it at a later date so here are some key elements to healthy teeth:
Diet – Reduce the consumption, and especially the frequency of, food and drink containing sugar. The number of times that sugars are in the mouth is the most important factor in determining the rate of decay. They should be consumed as part of a meal rather than between meals and the frequent consumption of acidic or fizzy drinks should be avoided.
Toothbrushing – Clean your teeth and gums thoroughly at least twice per day with a fluoride toothpaste. This will help prevent the buildup of plaque and tartar that causes tooth decay and gum disease.
Dental attendance – Have a check up at the interval that your dentist recommends. This will usually be about once every 6 months.
Smoking - We advise all patients not to smoke. For help giving up smoking click here. The most important key to healthy teeth is simply to Eat healthily.
Your dentist will advise the interval most appropriate for you for a regular check up.
